Announcement: CURRENT STUDY ABROAD STATUS DUE TO COVID-19

CURRENT STUDY ABROAD STATUS DUE TO COVID-19
International travel is currently banned at Winona State University by Minnesota State System until further notice.  Short term (including faculty-led and student club travel) and semester study abroad are cancelled through the spring 2022 term. Additionally, all WSU Faculty-led international and domestic summer 2022 study abroad programs have been cancelled, with the exception of the faculty-led program to St. Paul.  A decision on individual students studying through a WSU approved partner/provider will be determined at a later date.

Students will be permitted to study abroad providing ALL of the following criteria are met:
1) the international travel ban at the Minnesota State System level has been lifted
2) international travel is permitted by Winona State University
3) the host country where the student intends to travel is designated a level 1 or 2 by the U.S. State Department.

Studying abroad after the emergence of COVID-19 will bring some new requirements for students. For example, many providers that offer study abroad programs have a vaccine requirement for student participants. Additionally, testing requirements before departure and return are constantly changing and vary depending on the location. Another change is that some destinations are not permitting international visitors at the moment. We realize all of these changes can be confusing and stressful, especially because they are in a constant state of flux. Please contact Study Abroad at studyabroad@winona.edu for the latest on the study abroad status.
