Health, Exercise, & Medicine: An International Perspective (England & Ireland) | Faculty-led Program

This program has reached capacity and is no longer accepting applications.

This program is an interdisciplinary faculty-led course designed to expose students to medicine, health and exercise in a society outside of the United States. Students will engage in multiple, different learning opportunities; including peer group presentations, lectures/discussions from specialists in their field, placement in clinical sites to interact with peers and mentors from the United Kingdom and hands-on learning experiences in various settings. This program is intended for Nursing and HERS students, but applications from other students (particularly healthcare oriented students) will be considered. The major topics or themes for this program include:

  • International Health Care

  • Nursing

  • Sports Rehabilitation & Athletic Training

  • History of Medicine

  • Culture of England & Ireland

  • Athletics of England & Ireland

Students must have the ability to walk sometimes up to 10 miles/day. Students are responsible for their own luggage, sometimes carrying it upstairs at their accommodations. If warm summer, London can become a bit tropical as air conditioning is rare.

PLEASE NOTE: Participation in this program requires a valid passport through at least January 25, 2021. If you do not have a valid passport or your passport is set to expire before this date, please apply for a passport if you hope to participate in this program.
