Berlin, Germany
Spend a semester or academic year in Berlin, Germany with AIFS. You’ll earn up to 15 credits per semester through studying at Freie Universität, Berlin. Courses are offered in English and in German.

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the local community. If you’re interested in volunteering in Berlin, information on volunteer opportunities will be available once you arrive.

Live in a homestay or a student apartment. Homestay students live in their own room and receive breakfast and dinner daily from their host family. Apartments are single or double occupancy and include a meal allowance. All students receive a Mensa card to subsidize the cost of on-campus dining.

Cultural and social activities include:
  • Walking tours
  • Boat trips
  • German cooking classes
  • Visits to the many historical and cultural landmarks in Berlin
  • Day trips to Potsdam, Quedlinburg and Dresden
  • Week-long trip to a destination in Europe (to be determined just prior to the start of the semester).

Budget Information:
To calculate an estimate of the total cost of your program, use the Cost Estimate Template.xlsx and do the following:
1. Go to the AIFS website, https://www.aifsabroad.com/ , click on Find Your Program and navigate to the country and term.
2. On the right-hand side, click on Program Fees.  This is the cost of your tuition, housing and meals.
3.  In addition to this program fee, add the following costs to arrive at your total cost
 
  • Application fee - $65
  • Study Abroad Administrative fee - $460
  • WSU Laptop fee (semester students only) - $485
  • International Airfare (check studentuniverse.com, expedia.com or other search engines.  Note:  AIFS has an airfare package available)
  • Passport ($140) and Visa, (if required, cost varies per country)
  • Personal/ miscellaneous expenses for travel, additional meals, souvenirs, etc.
