AKITA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Akita International University is a four year liberal arts university located in the city of Akita, in the Tohoku region of northern Japan.  It is a public university established in 2004 with a student population of around 900 undergraduate and graduate students.  At Akita International University (AIU) education begins with the fact that the international campus culture of AIU seeks to selectively blend elements of main language of American universities with those of Japanese universities. English is the main language of instruction, and certain features of an American-style university curriculum are being followed with the goal of meeting the highest internationally recognized educational standards. Accommodations are on-campus, with Japanese students.
AIU is an exchange partner, which means students pay Winona State University tuition and the host university’s room and board. Acceptance under the exchange may depend on the balance of incoming and outgoing students.
