Lancaster University is home to almost 3000 international students.  A beautiful city with access to city, coast, and countryside. The very best of British. There are approximately 13,500 students at Lancaster University.

Our international community includes students from 100 countries worldwide and 30% of our world-leading staff are non-British, so you really will benefit from an international perspective on your studies and on student life.

Lancaster University is set in a beautiful location just three miles away from the historic city of Lancaster. We are close to the picturesque Morecambe Bay coastline and the breath-taking countryside of the Lake District National Park.
Lancaster city is rich in history and culture, with Lancaster Castle, shops, cafés, bars, and theatres. It’s conveniently located in the center of the UK. Road and rail links give you easy and affordable access to explore the metropolitan cities of London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Liverpool, etc. There’s also the magnificent and dramatic countryside and coast to discover on the doorstep including the famous Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Forest of Bowland, Morecambe seaside, and Blackpool.
Lancaster University is 1.5 hours from Liverpool, 2.5 hours from Edinburgh, 30 minutes from the Lake District, 1 hour from Manchester, and 2.5 hours from London.

  • You are expected to have a GPA of 3.0, a credit, or a grade B average or equivalent. 
  • To make your online application you first need to be nominated by the appropriate office at your home University or by one of Lancaster University’s overseas representatives. 
  • You will need a current transcript, a study plan, and a copy of a valid passport.

  • Michaelmas term (October - December)
  • Lent & Summer terms (January - June)
  • Full academic year (October to June)
  • You can also study for a calendar year (January - December) if that fits best at your home university.
You must have completed a year of study at your home university before coming to Lancaster.

We also offer Lancaster Global Summer Schools, which complement your stay and are often worth credits.
