Kristianstad University, (pronounced "K Quon Stad"), in southern Sweden, was founded in 1977 but can trace its roots way back for teacher's training (1835), nurses (1893) and engineers (1912). There are approximately 13,000 students, The University offers education in Educational Sciences, Natural, Social and Environmental Sciences, Food, Health, and Nursing Care, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work, Computer Sciences, Design, and Engineering, Economics and Human Resources.

Kristianstad University is an exchange partner, which means students pay Winona State University tuition and the host university’s room and board. Acceptance under the exchange may depend on the balance of incoming and outgoing students.

Situated in the southern part of Sweden, Kristianstad is a beautiful city with easy access to larger cities and mainland Europe. Kristianstad is a city and the seat of Kristianstad Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden with 40,145 inhabitants in 2016.

Students studying abroad for a semester are required to secure a Residence Permit.  The permit may be obtained in Sweden, however, you must APPLY for the permit while here in the U.S.  Application instructions are available HERE.  Upon arrival, you will be required to go to the Migration Board in Malmo (about 100 km from Kristianstad) to obtain the permit.

Kristianstad does not own any accommodation, however, they will assist in booking rooms at private housing companies.  The cost of housing will range from $315 to $375 per month and does not include meals. For more information, click here
